Solve Puzzles with Board and Real Pieces or on a Computer

I am looking to improve my tactical skills and am thinking about setting up a daily puzzle solving regimen. While I have started playing more online, I still like to play IRL would my stained roll-out mat and wooden pieces. Are there any inherent pros or cons to solving chess puzzles with a real board and pieces over a computer (or vice versa)?

I got to thinking about this as I was taken back by a friend of mine who I met up recently to play a couple games of chess. He mostly plays online and he stated that his perception of the game has changed as he had become so accustomed to playing chess in a 2D format and that it was almost awkward to play with real pieces.

As I sit down to study some puzzles, I have been wondering if there is a preferred method of study; or maybe that's just what it boils down to: a personal preference. I'm sure there has been plenty of study into chess pedagogy and the practice of learning. Perhaps someone more informed then myself can weigh in on this proposed topic of discussion.

I'm certainly not more informed. Just seems a pity if you wouldn't enjoy trying it out with those wooden pieces. Seems much more fun. I'm sure almost anyone will get the hang of it, 2D or 3D, by practicing.
