A simple problem, but suprising when you think a four year old came up with it. I don't think I even know any four year olds that know how the pieces move.

 What? Am I wrong?

White queen to  g3, black king must go to h1.

The white king to f2 ,  black king can not move . Black pawn must move to g1 and queen! Then white queen on  g3 takes new black queen and mate!

I saw this as soon as I started the puzzle.

Am I wrong?-SIX

Somebody show me my error. Surely this is correct. Yet when I move

white queen to g3 its shows to be wrong move!-Six

OOPS. Now I see it was mate in two not mate in three.

Quite clever.-Six

Six -  After Qg3 black has Kf1 as well as Kh1.  Kh1 is not the only option.

The next move for white could be Qxg2, but then white loses the queen with black's Kxg2.  Now white has to run the last pawn to the back rank for promotion.  Just way more time consuming.

Hope that helps.

The pawn at d2 was a distraction... it wasn't necessary at all! Since when can such a young chess player create a puzzle with this kind of trickery??!?
