White to move and mates Black in three!

Avatar of aurelcablayan

Had anyone found the key move here? It's quite deep and non-threatening!

Solution:

1.Qg1!Ke5 (Kf4 2.Rxf6+ Ke5 3.Qa1#) 2.Qf2 f5 3.Qe3#

Nice composition!

(This try is wrong.)

Avatar of aurelcablayan

Nice try chaotic_iak, but it seems that your key move will be refuted by 1... Be2! with the threat of capturing on a2-pawn by the White King.

Avatar of chaotic_iak

That one's right too! Clearly I can't do directmates. Do you have the solution?

Avatar of aurelcablayan

Here is the solution chaotic_iak:

1.Rd8! only the B can move so let's try some of the possibilities:

1... Bxb7+ 2.Kxb7 then 3.Rd1#

1... Be2 2.Rd5 (2... Bb5 3.Rd1#) B to any 3.Qb2# or if 2... Kxa2 3.Ra5#

1... Bxg2 2.Qxg2 then 3.Rd1#

All other alternatives are easy to spot!

Thanks for sharing your time, have a great day!!
