The daily puzzle today, Lazard's Playground

I have to say, I don't get it, but that's fairly common. I often wind up scratching my head asking myself "what was that supposed to teach me?".

The opening move with the Knight was pretty obvious and a pin on the Queen next wasn't hard to figure out either, but then the King is moved out of the pin diagonal and you've got a free shot at the Queen. That's not the move the puzzle wants you to move.

It gets really strange at the end though because the resolution to the puzzle is a Knight Fork on the Queen and King, which really makes no sense to me because I could have already taken the Queen.

Does anyone have an explanation? What was I supposed to learn here?

If you capture the queen with the bishop then black has no legal moves and it will be a draw by stalemate.

That thought had not occurred to me. Thank you.

You're welcome. The lesson is that it's extremely annoying to blunder by stalemating your opponent when you think that you are winning. Take every care that it doesn't happen to you!
