Here is the longest checkmate problem since 2022 with mate in 595 moves :

In the year 2001 it was the first time I improved the worldrecord for longest checkmate with mate in 267 moves . Have a look at  the second diagram :

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chess_problem

Between 2001 and 2022 I improved my own worldrecords for longest checkmate many times :

... and the question is - who can improve my worldrecord with mate in 595 moves ?

2 dark squared bishops is possible but a pawn needs to promote into a bishop

There is another Blathy puzzle which is much "simpler" and only takes 262 (or was it 257) moves to mate. Also looks legal, anyone know which one I am talking about?

It is the one where black king is on queenside and has to be triangulated by white queen to gain tempto while white king goes around from queenside to kingside. There are some black knights on 8th rank.

Thanks for the details. I found it. It looks like it is 292 moves, and legal to boot.

This mate in 292 is cooked and ends up being a mate in 42 (or less):

Bro, i see you make a mistake move for black

I think you are referring to a different puzzle than I am. I'm talking about the mate in 292 by Blathy and you are talking about the mate in 290 by Blathy.

No , i talk to you

Well, you need to tell me what move you think is the "mistake" for Black.

Sometimes it repeats moves

Is it guaranteed mate?

It doesn’t count unless there is a full guide of moves to always mate within 290 moves after that position.
Avatar of Kaelkai14
I actually solved this, you just have to move the king over and over and over the same pattern to get rid of black pawn thats why it took 290 moves!
