Trading down in the end game
I wouldn't call winning a rook trading down. Winning a rook increases the advantage significantly. Trading down refers to making even trades to a position that is easier (or more technical) to win even though it has the same material advantage.
Of course, it's just semantics.

No, you are correct, this isn't trading down, it's winning a piece to be up in the end game. However the 'tactic' begins by trading with the first move which results in a material advantage. Essentially the rook on d2 is either lost a once, or later, as shown here. Thanks for your input.
This might be a good puzzle for beginners studying the end game, black is up four points in this end game, and by trading down can continue the advantage, can you see how black might achieve this? Any constructive comments welcome, thanks
