Very true. Most retrograde puzzles are not something you would reach in a normal game if you are trying to win. 

But there are lots of composed puzzles that aren't realistic and still fun to solve, it's a matter of preference. Some people swear by taking positions from real games(which is often just training tactics) and others like me just enjoy some composed not-likely-to-happen-in-a-real-game puzzles

Composed problems can be art. They're not meant to be practical in the sense of improving one's game.
