The oldest known problem of its kind, circa 1300. Solution to follow tomorrow if not solved, it's not too difficult.

What's the matter? Too spicy for ya!?

Or do you miss the "freebie" solution?

Took me a little bit to figure this out, but once the idea came for what to do first the rest was easy.

Correct, the trick is to notice that in the initial position, if it is Black to move, he gets mated in 2 moves. So White has to lose a move somewhere, recreating the original position, and not allowing the Black King to escape via g6. White accomplishes this feat through  "triangulation".
