intresting puzzle, and I like it!
White can mate in 2??

Note that in the next Black move, Black can only push c4 pawn OR move Black King to either c3, e3 or e4 (White can't release control of c2, d2, e2 on next move). So White's job is to force Black King to a square where it can be mated. With just 4 choices, it is not so hard I guess...

You're right, it really is a rather simple puzzle, as are most "mate in x", you usually just look to contain the king and strike the final blow, but the idea that white can mate in two from this position is pretty cool, imo!
A little bit too easy, but I like the fact that white is in some sort of zugzwang himself in the first move since if he could play no move, black would already be in zugzwang himself

The mutual (almost) zugzwang leads to a second puzzle. Place Qe1 on e7 and require a mate in 2. Again, black and white would rather pass, but white has the escape move 1.Qe1! which does the job. The squares e1 and e7 could be called "corresponding poles" with regard to the mating scheme.
My coworker showed me this great chess puzzle. White to move and mate in two. I was about to call BS on it, but I finally found a solution. Give it a try! :)
