If white is bottom, then 2. -, Bc2. Then what? 3. Qxc1 Kxc1. Stalemate. Or am I missing something?

I believe you are missing 3. Qxd3+ and now no matter which piece blocks, 4. Qb5+ followed by capturing that piece with checkmate.

after 2... Bc2 white plays Qc3 and there is no escape to Qb2#
