Okay, let's do some REAL math here... I have a cylindrical tank laying on it's side with a diameter of x and a length of y. There's a small opening on the top of the tank where I can insert a rod to measure the liquid level (vertcally along the diameter).  Let's call the liquid level z. Give me an equation that calculates the volume of the liquid in the tank (in gallons) when given dimensions x, y and z in feet.

LOL... Man, you couldn't PAY me enough to go back to school. Thank goodness I'm done with all that. This was actually a task I encountered a couple years ago while calibrating a fuel level transmitter for a horizontal oil tank at a refinery. I guess my geometry teacher was right... I really WOULD need that stuff one day!

Boolean logic or algebra -- double negative is positive.  But this involves multiplication, not addition.  As in, (-1)*(-1)=+1, but (-1)+(-1)=-2.  Math is great, but we need to apply the right math to fit the situation.

Very intriguing.

That rule of allies and enemies led to the actual sign rule in maths.
