1000 Most Common English Words

 
     As someone who crushed the Mathematics SAT's only to fizzle on the English
SAT's I have spent the last couple of decades trying to improve my linguistic
capabilities.
     I have been studying the 1000 most common words on About.com. this year.  Also, I
am trying to learn the Latin and Greek word for each and then words from other
languages.
     There are some really interesting discoveries:

Word #476 is Stead-I just find this hard to believe.  Is this word ever used?
Word #15 is Are as the first verb on the list appears.
Word #18 is I but Word #9 is You.
Word #387 is Love-John Lennon would be upset it is this far down.
Word #389 is Money-At least it's below Love.
Word #494 is Yes-It seems it would be higher.

These are some that I found most interesting.  I will add some later.

Instead of "stead", it should probably be "dead."

The word "The" was ranked #1 on the list.
