When you buy a tournament chess set, it usually comes with two queens of each color (to use for pawn promotion).
He didn't see a "single" queen, he saw two.
But it's so silly I can't believe I got the answer right 
The black king looked around and saw a queen. He looked away and then looked back, but there wasn't a single queen. Why is that?
