A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Moon

it's a beautiful piece of cosmic harmony!

mdinnerspace

Very common. It's a gravity thing. Takes a lot of time to achieve the synchronization.

The_Ghostess_Lola

So, if the moon went away, how would it affect us ?....both the goods and the bads.

mdinnerspace

Was once a fish, then a tuna and now a cat. How many accounts now? You must love getting banned. Your previous history of harassment has not changed I assume?

The_Ghostess_Lola

IOW's, how does the moon help us ?....and would our water not have tides and just kinda stop moving a'O ?

mdinnerspace

What would happen if there was no moon?

With the Moon no longer there, the oceans of the world become much calmer. The Sun still has an effect on them (known as solar tides), so surfers wouldn't be completely devoid of waves. But the oceans would largely become serene. This has a dire effect on life on Earth.

Here is a classic example of providing useful information along with a false premise provided by a "reliable Internet source". The solar tides is true. The part about surfers and waves is utter bunk. Someone just made that up with no knowledge of how waves are created. Just based on an assumption.

mdinnerspace

Waves are largely created by wind. The tides have a very small effect on the surf along a coastline. Tides are they rising and lowering of sea levels. At the equater there are 2 high and 2 low tides generally in a single day. Near the poles 1 change in tide per day.

My apology Lola. .. the comment about being serious I attributed to you but in fact was from Raspberry. Gets confusing sometimes when posters copy quotes, which I rarely do.

Resent photos of the moon landings. If those are fake there are a few countries that can prove they are. So far nobody has stepped up to do it.

mdinnerspace

Sure there are photos of lunar landings. Any show that Man walked there? We sent spacecraft there at some point, but not Man.

mdinnerspace

There is but one source for those photos, and that is NASA. The pictures you could make with photoshop. An ex NASA big wig actually showed "mock up scenes" they used in training. It appeared exactly like the supposed photos brought back from the moon. He compared the two and asked the audience which were from the earth simulation or the supposed moon photos!

sargeyoda16
Of course all the photos are from NASA.... I don't see the point... also, all these arguments don't really make sense. You doubt that mankind went to the moon and no evidence will ever disprove that to you unless that evidence is you actually being there to witness it. You doubt the photos and theories and proofs of one side but don't have the same doubt for the other side, that the side you support can't be proven? Were you there to witness firsthand that we never made it to the moon? That's the question considering your doubt. :/ :)
mdinnerspace

Don't need to be an eye witness. Just intelligent enough not to so badly want to believe something that is spoon fed to us by NASA.

sargeyoda16
Then what are you being fed? And from whom? We are all fed something, I am being 'fed' that we went to the moon, you are being 'fed' the opposite. :)

The other countries would love to prove we didn't go there but they can't.

Photo shopped would be found out in 20 minutes. Do you also realize that 12 Americans walked on the moon and not one of them as caved after all these years to say it was a scam.

mdinnerspace

I use common sense after evaluating, hopefully as objective ly as I can, the evidence to reach a conclusion. The "evidence" given has holes in it everywhere you look. Nothing has been proven to me. It appears NASA said it happened, we are superior to the Russians in technology and therefor idealology.

Why in 46 years have we not been back? Is it because leading scientists say it is still not feasible, that there are too many problems, such as radiation issues?

mdinnerspace

Ah, but one did cave in and possibly two.

mdinnerspace

In fact, before the first manned Apollo flight, a total of 11 would be astronauts died. 3 were incinerated, seven died in plane crashes and 1 in a car crash. A spectacular accident rate.

mdinnerspace

Buzz Aldrin, the 2nd man on the moon, was asked at a banquet what it was like to have walked on the moon. He left the room staggering on his feet, crying uncontrollably. It would not be the last time he did this.
