My history teacher just gave a great talk on the Civil War and the poor conditions the soldiers endured. It was one of the bloodiest U.S. conflicts and over 1/3 of those deaths were caused by disease.

So true, but The Black Hand (unification or death) probably could have held war off a little longer by agreeing to Austria-Hungary's terms. Not condoning murder though.
