Yep. My Dad and some other relatives are traveling to Idaho to see it. I think the totality where they'll be is about 2 minutes and 10 seconds in duration.

I saw a total eclipse in '79.  Having solar sunglasses to watch before the eclipse is total may help to see the Bailey Beads and the Engagement Ring.  Also from what I've read, if you're standing under a tree you may see some glittering lights on the ground as the light filters through the leaves and if you're up high, you may be able to see the shadow of the moon racing towards you.  It is also interesting to have a thermometer to see how much the temperature drops.  Don't forget the camara.

I wonder what the traffic and other problems may be, if there is a nation-wide migration to the middle of the country to see this.  Only one month to go.

Our local weatherman said 2 things about it.  This type of eclipse won't happen again for another 100 yrs.  And it can best be seen across the entire middle of the U.S.

some cold morning coming up soon...

AlCzervik

ha!

consider it relative. i've been through months at a time where the temp doesn't get above freezing.

thegrobe and badenwurtca might be happy with a forecast like that.

kco

0 C this morning and right now 10:50 am is 7C Good that mean hardly anyone on the street at 9am that make it easy for me to go to the shop.

kco

wet wet wet for the first day of August, so far 3.4mm (2pm NZT) forecast 18mm. Currently 12.2C been cold for me for the last few days.

AlCzervik

kind of ironic that i'm laughing again.

tropical storm emily just dumped enough water on us that parking lots were lakes.

AlCzervik

also, 12.2c is cold?

i used to golf in that weather.

The weather where I live is the same throughout the year. At winter, it's 25 °c and at summer, it is almost 30 °c

At the end of July the surface water temperature in Lake Superior was up to 52°F [11.1°C] !

I ran various errands in the Soo yesterday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and it reached 88°F [31.1°C] . I was not pleased. All the parking lots stank of asphalt, one of the (many) nasty ubiquitous smells of the south.
