It had taken Oliver and Zach hours, countless deaths, and many headaches, but they were at the brink of victory. They’d been in that basement for hours, dying over and over in the final fight. After an hour, they got an amazing attempt. Before they knew it, Moon Lord was already to his final stage, and they had gotten so good at dodging that he may as well have not been attacking at all. That is, until their screen turned black. Oliver’s little brother, Alex, had unplugged the tv to charge his tablet.
An hour later, Oliver and his brother Alex were grounded for arguing and sent to their rooms, Zach left to sit on the couch. “Great,” Oliver mumbled to himself, “thanks a lot, Alex.” Thunder rumbled outside, the windows battered with rain. He groaned, hoping the storm would stop by the time he went to sleep. He never could fall asleep during a storm, after all. Then the sirens came.
He’d done this a dozen times. Go to the basement, wait for them to stop. He walked out, only to see a complete stranger in the house, a girl around his age, soaked from being outside. He turned to his mom, and asked who the girl was.
“She was outside when the storm came, and she needed shelter, so I invited her in.” his mom said. The girl shivered, and Oliver’s mom brought her to the fireplace to get warm, before taking all the kids down to the basement. Oliver’s mom went back up to grab their pets, leaving the four kids downstairs.
Oliver heard his ps5 making noise, and looked to see it shaking ever so slightly. ‘Weird,’ he thought, ‘I swear I turned it off.’ He walked towards it to turn it off, but before he could, a bolt of lightning went through the window, hitting it and causing it to explode. The room was filled with white for a split second, and then black.
