A Thread About Nothing
Mexican Radio
Hey! I was going to say that!
We're all just different fruits in the same cake.
Since @Tamer unexpectedly left the thread, lets welcome our next guest to the show, Florence Hodges.
The world is full of strange, beautiful, and unpredictable moments. Imagine standing on a quiet beach at sunrise, watching the sky shift from deep indigo to a soft pink glow as the waves murmur against the shore. The air is crisp, carrying the salty scent of the ocean and the distant cries of seagulls. In that fleeting moment, the universe feels infinite, yet intimately connected—like a silent conversation between you and existence itself. Some people find these moments in nature, others in music, art, or even the rhythm of a bustling city. Wherever they appear, they remind us that life is as much about noticing the details as it is about chasing the grand adventures.
all this time i thought it was about nothing.
They must of fired Gaby Johnson.
I say things like "Dad blam it! Dad blam it!" quite often. That's probably not exactly right. He wasn't the most eloquent speaker. A few months ago I decided "Blazing Saddles" might be the best movie ever made. They wrapped so much hilarious comedy around several very serious topics and made it work. Hilarious yet seriously thought provoking. Good acting too.
for years now, if i curse on the golf course i use clean versions. many nearby homes and you never know how many little ears are listening.
on blazing saddles, i wonder why mel didn't go to bat for pryor to remain in the film. he did co-write it, after all.
The special features on my dvd may say something about it. It has interviews with Mel and a couple others. Not tonight. I'm beat. Was a good weekend.

I got this from Mel Brook's commentary during the movie. Luckily, all this pertinent stuff came early so I ditched the commentary and watched the movie. Actually, I'm watching now.
Mel wanted Richard Pryor, who was doing stand-up comedy at the time, to play Sheriff Bart. Warner Bros. brass didn't like Richard's cocaine habit. Mel said he went to each studio big shot and begged for Pryor. He even flew to New York to beg the bigger shots but no go.
Mel also said that he (Mel) wrote most of Sheriff Bart and Richard wrote most of Mongo.
On my dvd's deleted scenes section there are several different scenes of how Bart beat Mongo. Mel said that he, Richard, the original screenwriter, and a couple more writers would sit in a room and brainstorm. When they got sick of each other they separate for a while. Somewhere along the way Pryor had to leave to honor engagements.

He should get satellite TV to really find the nothingness at the heart of the universe.
