Am I going mad???

I have been trying to run the number of games I play down

At one point I have over 12 games going (some in tournments when you play multiple players as both black and white at the same time) and my poor little head hurt lots

I found myself having to play through every game again (or at least the last 4 or 5 moves) just to remind myself of my trian of thought and I ended up making some silly mistakes - losing a queen to a player needlessly and very early in the game springs to mind)

As a result I've been tirelessly running the number of game I am playing down - avoiding new tournments and requests to play.

Today I log on and find 2 new games started against people I dont recognise  - they aren't tournment games - they are just "Let's play"

Am I going mad??? Have I somehow agreed to play these players last night and forgot

Or can this happen somehow

Please let me know ... I don't want to have to worry if the people with the white coats are going to take me away to the padded room again ....

No - really I have 2 games appear and I have no idea how ...

I dont think I invited anyone to play against me - I haven't accepted any invites - yet somehow I have 2 new games - that aren't tournment games

I will play them - i have managed to get the number of games i am playing down to a managable level - but I am just confused how they got there - and wondering if any more might appear...

no just me - i live alone - i dont think anyone i know in rl knows i am on here even - not something i feel i need to share - chess is my thing - my friends aren't really into it

and i know they are only games - i am going to play against these 2 people - i am just unsure where the games came from

Really? Because in terms of ignorance and not thinking I am sorted. I am naturally ignorant of most things and not thinking comes so easily to me you might suspect I was born with extra storage space between my ears - so if what you said is right I must already be there in paradise

There are 2 cases of common memory lose. It seldoms to be both of them. If this is the case then it is about total memory loss. First a common memory loss is forgetting people names. You have met the persons, but you forget their names.

Second it is about memory loss of events. You know you went somewhere, but you forget what you did over there.

Is it possible they're "welcome" games? I'm not exactly sure how it works (or worked), but supposedly one signs on to greet new players, and a game is automatically created between them.

One of the two is unrated so I guess thats possible for them - but the other already has an online rating of 1731 ... that cant be a welcome game can it?

Suggestion - take a week off, forget chess and the computer (you can use vacation time in online games, is that right? I don´t play there myself ...).

If the same sort of stuff starts happening to you in RL, then someone qualified should look into it. If not, then it was just a computer jinx/you´ve been hacked.

Information technology is as complicated as chess, so things can go wrong. On the other hand it could be your destiny to play these people. Perhaps you will mary one of them..
