Yes. So true. And I know the eye for an eye part comes from the book of Matthew. I'm not sure who added the "leaves the whole world blind" part.
But, when I think about the whole quote written in this way, it makes me pause.
I think people sometimes feel it's a safe environment online to say what ever they feel because they are unreachable, but they don't think about how the person on the other end might feel or how deeply a few words could affect them. Words are a powerful thing. I've seen the effects a few harsh words have had on teenagers. We all should make the internet a place that is kind and humane. Not cruel and vindictive.
I have read both Exodus and Matthews version. I like how the quote finishes it in a positive way.
The internet is really an interesting example of human nature. When given the opportunity to be anonymous and thus act either good or bad in their comments and actions, it is interesting to see the trends of how groups will act. This website normally has relatively civil conversations, despite its highly competetive nature.
