Aside from jokes, It really is unfortunate to see a loved one act like that
(I can't really say he's a loved one anymore, he was and is a horrible person. He has done things much, much worse than this. Fortunately, my family no longer lives with him and we no longer associate with him either. I've gone no contact, and plan on doing so for the forseeable future.
However, he was still my dad, and it's hard to cope with the fact that I don't have a father [given the chnage was actually quite recent], nor do I have a father fugure. Can't say I've really seen my Dad was a 'father figure' for several years now, but my initial point still stands. He was nice at times and I do have good memories with him.
I try to focus on the good stuff as much as I can while still acknowledging that he was a horrible person, father, husband, and family member.
