At 18 I hitch- hiked most every state. Did LA to New Orleans (Mardi Gras) several times. Canada, New England the best rides were in the Midwest (longest). Hav'nt given a stranger a lift in 30 years. You'd have to be nuts. Times did change.

Surf trips were the best. Mexico to Oregon. Kinda funny story, my 1st road trip with a buddy, he had just bought a car. We took photos of every stop we made. Upon our return and observing the photos, we had 100+ pics of his car!.
