That is how I thought stats went back in college.
I found this picture with an explanation. After reading, did I completely misunderstand what the p value really meant, or can I still accept the NH in the same manner I did decades ago?
Let's start with the picture graph:
Maybe that voodoo jumble in the "Important" window identifies what I did wrong.
It appears that if you have REACHED the observed data point you can accept the null hypothesis. But before that, until you get to at least the more likely observation peak area you can reject the null hypothesis. Is this correct?
If so, I thought the more likely observation peak area represented the NH decades ago. Is this graph illustrating the mistake I have outlined, or am I completely clueless and need to specialize in hats instead of stats?
