Anyone else experience this?

Am I the only one who has had this happen to me, or does this happen a lot?

You're randomly derping around, and all of a sudden, someone (I'd say who, but unfortunately, by doing so, I could be muted, and I don't want that) sends me this:

"Hi,

Could you please pay me a membership i can't afford one. And i really like chess and want to enhance my level.

Best regards"

This happened to me, and I sent them a frustrated message back, but I'm curious; how often does this happen?

Huh. Actually, I was kind of expecting that. Then again, you're kaynight, so you never know.

Nope. But something tells me this guy is Abel. Before he got banned he complained about how he keeps losing his money by getting memberships then getting banned. Plus that is what my detective pals and I call "Abel Grammar", which this guy is using. If you can message me this member's name.

It was a guy (forgive me, mods) called www.chess.com/members/view/Deep_sigh

Oh, and this could get me muted as well, but I don't care: In case you were wondering, my reply was this:

I'm not going to pay for YOUR dang membership. I don't care that you're probably a worse player than I am, I can only pay for so much, and that doesn't include YOUR FRIKKEN MEMBERSHIP. God, I've gotten tons of requests from people about whatsoever, but I have never gotten "Hey, can you pay for my membership, please?" Get out of my face, and don't even think of begging another member for membership; make the money yourself. Are you F**KING serious?!

Not best regards,

~James

As you can see, I completely lost it with that dude. The message earned me a spot on his block list, but I don't care, he asked ME to pay for HIS membership. Only someone as naïve as friendme would do such a thing.

Thanks.

Well, James, your choice of words was not the best possible...

What would YOU do? Imagine what GargantuanGoober would have done if someone asked him for free membership.

It could be a variation of the Nigerian scamUndecided  The're just trying to "bait" you. If you take the bait, they'll have some reason to knock you up for more money.

Avatar of James1011James1011

Of course, I know that I should of been a little nicer (okay, maybe not, actually) but the guy just said "hhh thanks anyway" so maybe he was just trying to scam me. I don't know. I hope he sees this thread!

The other one that was going around a while back was someone who says they want to talk to you, but they can't do it on chess.com. So they want you to send them an E-mail.  I think that was a dating siteUndecided

You seem to know a lot about this. Has this happened to you before?

Avatar of RonaldJosephCote

I got the woman who said she can't talk to me on Chess.com. Actually, I don't know a lot about anythingCry  I'm just a little older than you.

Um, what is jehovah and what relevance does it have to the topic?

Avatar of James1011James1011

Funny thing is, it happened on my birthday. The guy's just like "Happy birthday, now pay for my membership, motherf**ker!"

The world is full of people like that James, my advice is you should forget about the incident and focus your time and energies in positive people instead.

If you are not able to do that, that guy failed in steal your money but in exchange is stealing your time and your good mood.

Avatar of TurboFish

No, but if it did happen to me, l would either ignore it or answer with a simple "no". Why does anyone feel obligated to reply to strangers on the internet?

Avatar of James1011James1011

You know what? I enjoyed sending that message to that guy! That poor b**** doesn't deserve a free membership, whether he's lying or not!

Avatar of James1011James1011

Oh, and I do have a good mood, but I rarely show it, and when I do, it's pretty difficult to steal it from me.
