Are crop-circles real?

Crop-circles have been around at least since 1550.  A scientific investigation reviled  some interesting things.

A horse will not go near a freshly made crop-circle.  The scientest's compass and watchs turn erratically. At the base of the stalk there is a ninty degree curve at the stem.  It is not creased or folded like it is when someone uses a piece of wood and the two ropes.  The curve does not harm the plant.

There are tiny holes the length of the stem where super heated steam escaped.  The soil has been eradicated of micro-organisms.  Metals in the ground (iron) have formed tiny spheres as if by a great heat.

The stalks are braided together and the farmer can still harvest the wheat.

 What is happening?

Crop circles are hoaxes made by people with boards and ropes.  They admitted as much, but people still want to believe the UFO angle.

RevLarry

Do you believe the scientists are hoaxing it?  or that they are not real scienteists?

RevLarry

Did the aliens tell you they came from Hollywood?

rooperi

Exactly who are these scientists?

Where were their findings published?

How was it recieved/responded to by their peers?

RevLarry

You want me to do the research.  How about you do it.  What I saw was on NOVA a number of years ago.

rooperi

Sorry, you are the one making outrageous claims, and I have to do the research?

Maybe you should do some research. Google Scientific Method....

RevLarry

Rooperi..If the topic interests you then by all means persue it.  But for me to spend hours at it so you can just refute it is a waist of both our time.  Its been on TV several times you must have seen it.

Pat_Zerr

I don't know how many times I've seen people making wild claims on the internet, whether it be conspiracy theories or paranormal claims, and when someone questions the claim critically, the person making the claim says, "The information is out there, do the research."  Why is it they think that people who don't agree with them need to prove their point for them?

What interests me is the fact that any idiot with a lab coat is called a scientist.

What intersets me is that you think you can post any rubbish without a shred of proof, and claim it is my responsibility to refute it. I'm sorry, the burden of proof is on the person making the claim. It was on TV? Wow, man, you should read some books. I suggest you start with "The God Delusion - Dawkins"

Hilarious! How many NOVA-watching experts are there in the world?Laughing

BeeatMe

sometimes farmers cut their crops straight and sometimes in a circle, smoetimes they cut them at daytime and sometimes at night, sometimes they wear a hat and sometimes they don't, sometimes they wear a checkered shirt just like a chessbord and sometiimes they wear something else,

Ephedra

Rev Larry, besides "The God Delusion" by Dawkins, you might also consider "The Demon Haunted World" by Carl Sagan. Pay close attention when Sagan gives you a "baloney detection kit". I have led you to the well; sate your thirst.

RevLarry

Ephedre hello.. Ok if you will consider the book. In six days why 50 scientists believe in creation.  50 different realms of science.

I've stepped inside two of them outside Cambridge, and they both had the strange characteristics described by RevLarry.  Plus they apparently did some weird things to my friend's camera film.  ??

I'll put money down that a ton of crop circles are man-made.  But I'll also put money down that there are others like the ones I've been in that require more explanation than a rope and stomping board.

So Lisa you were actually in one or two.  I only know what the scientists say about it.  Is there anything elce you can tell us about it?  Thank you for you response it is interesting.

A few admitting to a hoax does not translate into all crop circles are hoaxes. That's a fallacy often called, "hasty generalization."

RevLarry

The fallacy called "popular"

chessmates hello..Good question.  Makes you wonder why the fake ones always follow a round form.
