Are fossils young or old?

 There is impressive evidence that fossil deposits and rock strata were formed catastrophically.  There are also many indications that were  not millions of years, or even thousands, between various rock units.  There are not significant time gaps between the various rock layers.  Is this evidence of a catastrophe?  If so what kind?

Sorry, but there's no geological evidence of a global flood.  And I don't want to get any further into this because there's not supposed to be any religious discussion here.

Modern man fossilized bones. 

There is a lot of evidence of massive floods when glacial dams broke at the end of the last ice age. It's not coincidental that a lot of civilizations that are a few millennia old have massive floods in their mythology.

You need to consider that ''the whole world'' means something different than what it means to us to people for whom the best transportation technology was boats and horses.

They have found dinosaurs bones with keratin. So I would say young.
