Are introverts generally smarter than extroverts?

Introverts tend to try and examine things more carefully than extroverts. Extroverts spend more of their time on people and thus have a higher EQ, but lose on the pondering that provides a higher IQ. That’s generally why introverts have a higher IQ, although some studies have shown introverts to have a higher IQ and EQ.
Regardless, I don’t think being an introvert or extrovert causes you to be smarter or not; I think it’s how often you interact with people. There are still other factors for IQ to be taken into account however.

One Harvard study found that introverts’ brains work differently, and have thicker gray matter compared to extroverts. In people who are strongly extroverted, gray matter was consistently thinner. Introverts also showed more activity in the frontal lobes, where analysis and rational thought take place.

Another study that scanned brains of both introverts and extroverts found that, even in a relaxed state, the introverted brain was more active, with increased blood flow.

I would say no (if you are talking about chess). Intelligence and skill in chess are not determined by whether someone is an introvert or an extrovert. Introversion and extroversion are personality traits that describe how individuals interact with the world, while intelligence is a multifaceted trait encompassing various cognitive abilities. Both introverts and extroverts can excel in chess if they have the necessary skills, knowledge, and practice.

Some introverts can have both high IQ and EQ. I’d say, both introverts and extroverts have their own strengths and weaknesses. Intelligence can’t really be defined so narrowly.

Intelligence depends largely on what we inherit from our parents or comes from the environment in which we are educated, live and work .

As an introvert I can say that we are not any smarter, obviously, no one is "smarter" or less smart just because of they're personality traits

Oh, absolutely! Introverts are clearly the intellectual elite of society. The less social interaction you have, the higher your IQ automatically becomes. It's a proven fact that the more time you spend alone, the more brain cells magically sprout in your head. Clearly, extroverts are just wasting their time with all that pesky human interaction when they could be unlocking the secrets of the universe in solitude. It's a no-brainer, really.

There are different kinds of intelligence. Perhaps introversion will make it more likely for an increased IQ, but other factors may be reduced.

Introverts are typically more ‘book smart’
Extroverts are typically more ‘street smart’

There’s a reason that all ur college grads are introverts and smart, while the people who hit it big in life tend to get c and d grades
