What lead you to playing chess?

my dad taught me when I was around 5 I think (I am in my very early teens right now) and I thought it was fine, but i stuck to playing minecrsft on my ipad until I realized how much strategic potential this game has a few months ago, which leads me to today trying to get better than my dad. I beat him yesterday twice in a 5 game series, so making progress!
Damn that’s actually a so cool, I got started in my early teens aswell out of curiosity, any chess players you look up to?

honestly not really, it’s not like I have too much time to dedicate into this game with school, but if I had to pick one person who stands out to me, GothamChess really made me understand how great this game is after watching a few of his videos and seeing how complex and interesting chess is.
