In my most recent post I mentioned " The Moldau " and it seems that March 2cnd was the date of Smetana's birth ( in 1824 ). Then we come to March 4th, 1810, The date of Chopin's birth ( March is starting off very well ).
Bach, Beethoven, Brahms ( & Mozart ? )
Thanks for the updates cabadenwurt - Happy Birthday to the old musicians! :)
--- MENGKESHI: Thanks for the post.
I might be rather busy tomorrow so I should post this note today. For fans of Classical Music March 22cnd is of major importance. Way back in 1685 Johann Sebastian Bach was born and of course the rest is history ( what else can one say ? ).
Wow, thanks for the heads up cabadenwurt!! :D
Thanks for the post MENGKESHI.
Today is Bartok's doy ( born in 1881 ).
Things have been a bit busy here for a couple of days and I missed an important date for March 31st of 1732. Joseph Haydn is sometimes ignored but he was a major influence in the early classical period. Haydn wrote 125 trios, 107 symphonies and 68 quartets ( plus other music as well ), quite a busy fellow.
Thanks for the posts. Someone deleted their post for some reason. I do try to answer the most interesting posts but sometimes it takes me a while to return to a specific thread.
Tomorrow is May 7th and as I may be out of town I will mention the year 1840 at this time. The one and only Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky ( what else can one say ? ).
I am Brahms and Liszt at the moment.
--- Thanks for the post Kaynight. Those are great choices, no doubt about that.

No worries! This is something I feel very passionate about so I am always happy to bore everyone to death with long walls-of-text, thanks for putting up with it!
Before I finish, "Albinoni's" Adagio is a case-in-point for comparison of the quality of styles - the story goes that the theme was Baroque (by Albinoni) but it was developed by a 20th Century guy - personally I feel the potential was lost but to be fair the guy who wrote most of it isn't regarded as one of the great 20th Century composers...
For balance, here's one of my favourite modern "classical" pieces of music - Ravel's Daphnis & Chloe - hard to deny that the orchestration is amazing:
Berliner Philharmoniker – Maurice Ravel: Daphnis et Chloé / Troisième partie - Lever du jour
EDIT: Happy Birthday Mendelssohn! A great achievement indeed! :)
--- Thanks for the new post and the info Mengkeshi.
In my case I don't know much about the technical side of music but I luv to listen to beautiful tunes. For example Smetana's " The Moldau " will often put me in a happy mood ( as will the Strauss Waltzes ). I'm very happy when I have my Satellite radio on as it has 2 quite good Classical music channels ( plus a Opera channel as well ).
