I know he was a quirky, questionable character, but all in all he wasn’t that bad and I have now lost a friend to haters.

I think his account got banned for something stupid that haters made up like putting a forum on the wrong topic, instead of General chess discussion, he accidentally put Chess.com community or something

Accounts can't get banned for that.
They get banned for violations of the site Community Policies: https://www.chess.com/community
Also, that account is not banned.
