Indeed! 😀
Bob Dylan...

I have mixed feelings about this.... Don't get me wrong. I've long loved Bob Dylan... Listening to him right now...Saw him in concert a decade ago but, I guess I am just a prude about literature.

Of course. He is not a criminal, like some. I'm not referring to decency either, since it does not have anything to do with him. As for some criminals, they have at least the decency to vanish.

I'm with you; I like some of his music but the cult-worship of him shouldn't win him a Nobel. Come on man!!!! I guess it's not quite as ridiculous as Obama's Nobel Prize.

Past civilizations and cultures have used song to pass down stories and legends , this form of story telling is nothing new , his lyrics are incredible and descriptive , very seldom repetitive . This is well deserved.

Dylan has several legacies. One, his catalogue of writings; two, his almost unparelleled inluence upon succeeding generations of songwriters; three, his longetivity: more than half century of creativity. Although I was at first taken back by this choice for the Nobel Prize, upon reflection I have absolutely no problem with it and even applaud the committee's outside-the-box thinking.

I have no argument with a musician winining the prize. I just don't see how Dylan deserves it. Honestly his music is essentially pop music; it plays on certain emotions related to non-conformity or a longing for a better world. Nice music, but when I think of a Nobel, I think of Faulkner, Willa Cather, Chinua Achebe. Dylan is not in this category. He's an emotional favorite but not a rational one for this prize.
I love the Beatles but I also don't believe they would have deserved a Nobel, individually or collectively. I think giving this to Obama, Dylan etc cheapens the prize. Waters it down.
...won the Nobel Prize in Literature.
