PATRIOTS DAY.Mark Wahlerg.John Goodman .Kevin Bacon.
In the immediate aftermath of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings,a police officier(Mark Wahlberg)aids the pursuit of the bombers.What struck me about this movie was the distinct lack of jingoism and I applaud the director Peter Berg for that ,Boston is an Irish City and has an Irish Police Force .The BPD dosen,t suffer fools gladly and when FBI's directives go against their wishes.. sparks fly.The bombers themselves reminded me of the INLA totally unafraid of capture and 'gung ho'truely a force to be reckoned with .The human carnage depicted is neither tear jerking nor matter of fact.Whatever your opinion of who are the terrorists in the real world this movie dosen,t pontifcate and caters for both points of view.{8~10}

THE JUDGE- ROBERT DOWNEY- ROBERT DUVAL
Hank Palmer (Downey jnr) plays a sneaky Chicago defence lawyer in the midst of a trial he receives a voicemail telling him of his mothers death .He seeks an ajournment and heads to smalltown Indiana where his father (Duval) is the resident judge,The story itself revolves around Downey family ties and uneasy history therein ,it becomes even more tense when "The Judge' is charged of murdering a former defendant he previously went easy on.What struck me about this story is how it invoked memories of my own upbringing and son v father turmoil that occurs on the changing of the guard.It brought back long forgotten memories and .if you choose to watch this movie' old or young 'it will resonate for you aswell I,m sure of that {9_10}

In the aftermath of the 2010 BP oil spill in Louisiana U.S.A .an idealistic politican (Cage) takes on BP and fights for his hometown buddies to face the monster that BP represents ,He calls for a moritorium on drilling in the Gulf and states the fairly obvious fact that oil is unsustainable as a means of energy and that green tech ,is the only viable soloution ,His crusade is almost derailed when an infidelity is exposed,.This is in every aspect a real depiction of ourselves ,we laud good and we criticise evil but trouble is we are all too human {8-10}

Hugh reprises his role as Wolverine.Its been 25 years since a mutant has been born .The government has taken to genetically engineering children to train them as weapons.A nurse at the government facility lets the kids loose to save them from termination after the experimentation backfires.Cue a reluctant and malcontented Jackman! This is no run of the mill X Men but a brutal conflict between government troops and Wolverine ! The movie carries a19 age restriction and that tells you all you need to know about its very violent content!Definitely not childrens viewing !!!! Movies don't get much better than this. (9\10)
