You know… whether any of us will admit it or not, these threads about Charlie Kirk have really livened up OTF and gave everyone a chance to see where everyone stands ethically, emotionally, and on a political and religious level. These series of threads gave us a chance to debate others on our views on this person and other deeper topics.

I don’t hate these threads, since they actually allow for a discussion to take place instead of the usual nonsense.

The real problem is that someone always crosses the line. Yesterday it was those discussing inhuman people on those threads and today it’s those who were trying to speak reason(more like basic humanity) in to those who were acting out. Why is that? Because they are now coming onto forums with the experience that they need to defend themselves and Kirk harshly to get their point across and speak reason into other.

This development was a what gets threads locked and creates bad behavior on this site.

At the cost of a human beings life?

But now these moderators are allowing nonsense to come back.

#87 very true. I’ve seen a lot of understanding come from these threads despite what political views you believed in. What I saw was simply people protecting the little humanity we have left.

People die every day. I mean, today is 9/11, and there was a school shooting in Colorado on the day he died.

Obviously, I realize he was important to a lot of people, but I would say that this is all a little excessive. Not the threads on chess.com, but more so the global recognition that he’s receiving.

But let’s not get into that.

#89 not what he meant. I know he had a bad pov on this but read it again. That’s not the context.

Humanity is fine. People disagree, and that’s life.

You're 100% right here, and it's a large part of why otf doesn't target more interesting people here anymore: because those people don't want to be in a place where they are afraid to speak their mind for any reason. The only people who genuinely enjoy being part of a hive mind of poor quality junk like heated and person above you threads are young children who simply don't really even know these other topics exist.

That was a little bit of rage-bait. My bad.

Abd that’s where clubs are born.

I don’t usually like talking about politics and religion in a chaotic setting on OTF. If I were to speak my mind on these topics here in Texas, I’d get beat up and befriended by everyone I knew. So I come online and choose to do so.

We don't even know if this was a political issue or not. Maybe the guy didn't like what he said about AI taking over his job, who knows lol 😂

But honestly. Because of these charlie kirk death threads, it actually spread awareness on the off topic section, rather than some nonsense brainrot.
