Homework is meant to provide an application to what was learnt in class as a reinforcement. Most of the time the first step fails and then the second step becomes a workaround - copying, dog ate the homework, getting someone else to do it. Chat gpt doesn't change that much except to make the last option seamless.

I'd always complained about the poor quality designs by tech design houses. I'm guessing using chatgpt here probably won't make it any worse. Customers already have to invest in reviews and testing that exceed what would have been expected for acceptance years anyway.

The scariest thing that I have heard in years, from a friend who apparently has a top secret clearance with DOD and writes Java code, is that Java code can now peruse all of the information on the Internet and has learned how to program itself. Java is used in endless real world applications, stoplights, cars and things like that. That is closer to Skynet reality than anything else.

. I had a Top Secret (SBI) clearance, and I was creating Java systems back before Swing. You can write Java code that will itself generate new Java code, but this is a far cry from "learning to program itself".
