Chess - a way to help somebody?

I have given this a lot of thought and it may sound a bit odd. Chess is game first of all and people pay to play or even watch games. That is how the staff can look at this matter, because there are thousands of people that need help in this moment and we can provide that help. I will just give a short example; there is a kid in my country that needs urgent operation on his lungs but the family cant afford it and maybe if there is a tournament that you must pay to enter, the money could be collected.I am eager to hear what everyone has to say about this especially the STAFF.
