Chess Dreams
Last night I dreamed that a dude I know on World of Tanks (blitz) was really a 13 yr. old female. Â I woke up sweating I can assure you! Â
I prefer love than chess in my dreams. But when I spent a year in US I used to had dreams in English.
It is a great topic. Too much interest in chess can really cause these, but IMHO it is not good way to do something useful for your brain. I had had some dreams of positions and chess tasks, but once it turned into deadly nightmare (after unsuccessful blitz match), so I decided to mitigate my thinking of chess...
Very interesting topic and easily a good one for a psychological study.Â
As a musician, I knew some composers who would find inspirational themes in their sleep and of course there is the famous story of the chemist who puzzled over the molecular structure of Benzine so much, the answer was found in a dream.
In the 1970's, Psychology Today magazine devoted almost and entire issue to "The mind of the chess player," and touched on such ideas as pattern recognition and by-products and cross-over benefits to high level players.
Chess can provide "memory hooks" upon which to sort concepts such as "horns of a dilemna," blockage, and sequence of actions. The "dreaming brain" uses these references to picture and create visual images in a symbolic language. For example, many years ago, I was having relationship problems. In a dream, my companion left a note taped up in the bedroom. I could see the "writing on the wall" and knew it was over. Likewise, dreams often represent conflicts or problems and a solution on the chess board can symbolize a plan and path to resolution.
Those are some of my thoughts and reaction to this facinating area of cognition.
well...........my dream was about my life ..way back when I was a just a little nipper down in scrubby creek...I was not real handsome but I had a cheeky grin....I was an inspiration to every ugly bloke who had given up hope.....
Another closely related topic is the idea of "Lucid Dreaming." This is the phenomena where you become aware you are dreaming but don't wake up. With enough practice, concentration, and post-hypotnic suggestion, it is possible and books have been written on the subject.
Exactly like the movie, "Inception," people can manipulate their dreams to try out various alternatives without consequences. I have never done this with an adjourned game, but presumably, I could finish the game in my sleep quickly and have insights guided by the combination of my intellect and intuition (= intelligence).
Pleasant dreams.
But over time I changed my mind a bit.
Chess is primarily a fight.
It's a brutal stressful game.
Any activity where you compete with others is a very stressful.
Winner is over the moon and a defeated near the collapse.
In current overstressed world, it's not a good relax
Many great chess players prematurely died of brain exhaustion
This obviously applies to only some at the highest level.
But it is better to dream about something different than a game of chess...
I am intrigued by the game of chess and it's complex set of moves. Seems very mathematical to me. Â Thank you for your input.
Well ..............I'm still just dreaming about "chasing sheilas" BlueEyedLady.........https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccS3OZFU1Go
