Back to the original topic... Yes, I've had chess dreams. It's probably because sometimes I am thinking about chess as I go to sleep, whether it be a game I have in progress, a game I just finished, or just ideas in general...

Avatar of netzach

That is why nomads travel. To seek out new dreams and fresh experiences.

Thank you NomadicKnight. Am wondering... did you work through some chess problems in your sleep?

Avatar of chasingthecrown

I think your dreams often include scenes from things you may have been involved in heavily during your day- to answer your question, yes, i have dreamed of chess, can't say i actually solved any chess problems in the dreams though. question for you now, have you ever realized during the dream that it is just a dream?  If so, have you had the courage to do something crazy during the dream? For instance, if you dream you are running from a grizzly bear, but then realize it is a dream, do you stop and run back towards the bear?

No I never realize I am dreaming until I start to wake and then I cannot return to the dream. Have you CTC ever been able to change your dream?

Avatar of RonaldJosephCote

There's a phisiological reason why nobody can never return to the same dream. Has to do with the levels of REM sleep.

I have had the situation where the mind wakes up, but the body is still asleep. And your just paralized. I quess that's the closest to chess.(ya,know, can't move!;  I said, CAN'T MOVE!

Hi Bel and Ronald. I know more than one report of people who  returned to the same dream, or even can continue it from the point it had been interrupted...

REM sleep is the answer:
