chess openings and personality types

i have been wondering if there is any coorelation between a person's choice of openings and/or their strategy and tactics and their personality type. for instance: a type( a) personality might have an agressive stance , opt for control of the center, leave pieces hanging as a trap, use the chat line to harass his/her opponent. a meeker personality might fianchetto their bishops, have a defensive posture,or have a weaker pawn structure. in other words, is it possible to determine the type of person you are playing against by their chess moves? i know when playing face to face, part of the game is to "know your enemy". this is also true when playing cards,at work, or any other type of interaction. what are your thoughts on this, or am i blowing smoke in the wind?

I think it's possible that you could divulge some of how your opponent thinks by how they play, but you'd have to play them several times to be able to predict even a more obvious move.  I don't think that you could determine their personality by how they play, but I could be wrong.  I never thought they'd be able to determine your personality by having you stare at splashes of ink, either.

Maybe, but not all the time some one with split personalities can be agressive in chess or any other games, but real shy and timid.

I know some dog lovers who play the Colle.  Some Italians I know play the Sicilian Defense.  I have some Polish friends who play 1.b4.  It seems that bird lovers like to play 1.f4.  Some Catholics I know like the Bishop's Opening.  I see the Danish Gambit played by a lot of pastry lovers.  I've played a few folks from the U.K. and they seem to play the English Opening.  I've played a gourmet cook who opens with the Fried Liver Attack.  Anand seems to play the Indian Defenses a great deal.  I've played a few drunks who opened up with the Scotch.
