chess poem

In the realm where black and white reside,

A game of kings, where fates collide.

Upon the checkered field they stand,

A symphony of moves, both bold and grand.

Pawns step forth, their journey starts,

Seeking glory, playing their parts.

Knights in armor, swift and free,

Dance across the board in unity.

Bishops glide along diagonal lines,

Their strategies unfolding, divine.

Rooks tower tall, unyielding might,

Guarding realms through day and night.

Queen, a sovereign, commands the strife,

With power to shape the tale of life.

Yet amidst the clash, a humble goal,

To capture the king, the ultimate toll.

A master's mind, a poet's art,

In this battle of minds, they play their part.

Chess, a canvas where dreams are spun,

A dance of wits 'til the game is won.

When I was a freshman in high school, I had to write a poem for English class. I tried a chess poem and got a C grade. ugh!

Yours is much better.
