I understand people have become much more sensitive now, but this is going beyond normal.

Given our history, or rather, your history, you should have been extra careful not to be offensive. I just gave you a chance to show that you could debate with adults.
It wasn't any one comment but your whole, aggressive, entitled demeanour. You're a troll and you even troll your own threads.
If I only considered history, you'd probably have been blocked before ever posting. But I believe people should have the opportunity to prove themselves capable of more.
If you someday you show yourself to be a mature adult, this attempted argument may carry some weight . Now please get back on topic...or you can leave as you already implied. Your choice.
btickler, you wouldn't know what a mature adult is and it certainly isn't you.
You are entitled to your opinion. but not to keep expressing it here and making the thread about you and the chip on your shoulder...so move on, one way or the other.
Btickler: Been a while since I've commented here. Seems little has changed. If you would like a new adversary I would invite you to the Ideas Room where there are 13 open topics by one character who continually posts anti-vaccine misinformation from the same 2 or 3 discredited sites and blocks people who suggest he may be wrong. Quite a challenge.
This thread isn't about adversaries. It's about having a BS free zone to discuss Covid-19.
The Ideas Room is not my idea of fun. I combat stupidity on the main forums to serve a purpose (exposing said stupidity for others to see and learn to recognize and avoid), not for entertainment. Seeking out people like that who are sequestering themselves with their own circular and inbred ignorance is masochistic . Let them fester and rot.
I had more than enough of the Ideas Room by proxy, in Open Discussion, where the Ideas Room admins are constantly seeking to steal members so they can try to up the intelligence level of their Idiocracy-inspired discourse.
2851 posts before this thing stared turning into a dumpster fire. Thats impressive for here. I will take my leave from the one forum that was actually useful until it gets back on track.

It's gone into dumpster fire territory a number of times, but it's transitory.
This is hilarious. I actually PMed him because I believed he might be a kid and he told me his daddy made him get off the site. What a dope.
Yeah, he sent me a PM threatening legal action from "the authorities". Typical stuff for sockpuppets that paint themselves into corners. I've seen all these tactics before going all the way back to 1983 on messageboards running on PDP11/70s. Posters always think they have figured out some brilliant way to extricate themselves that nobody has ever thought of before . Trolls R Dumb.
History.....you keep mentioning "The Ideas Room".. What ideas to fight the pandemic have come out of that room.? Us old timers remember it as "Open Discussion",...and it was always a Vipers Den.
Vaccine mandate was legal in 1905 for smallpox
You can bet that if Covid-19 gave you little colored spots all over your skin and then killed you that people would be vaccinating in droves ...but because it is respiratory they just assume they can shake it off like a cold.

Different clubs.
This is the level of intelligence we are dealing with a good deal of the time:

You are probably right and since Trump hurried the vaccine it surprises me that so many Republicans are against it while Democrats who said they would never take a Trump vaccine are taking it!
Masks do the following:
- They prevent droplets from infected people wearing them escaping (primarily) and droplets from hitting the uninfected (secondarily)
- For aerosolized virus, they still mitigate the intake, and the better the mask seal, the less severe the infection when you get Covid-19. The initial viral load you receive makes a difference in how badly you will fare.
- They additionally are a visible indicator of somebody who is probably taking a breadth of precautions vs. someone who just doesn't care.
I have the photic sneeze reflex (bright lights make me sneeze) and there was a time I was leaving Walmart and the sun hit my eyes, making me sneeze. Out of habit, though, I put my hands to my mouth to “catch it.” However, since I was wearing a mask, there was nothing to catch: I didn’t even feel air from the sneeze on my hands. My face was a mess, but based on the fact that I tend to have very violent sneezes and not a droplet got through, you can’t convince me that masks don’t work; I’ve experienced them catching those potentially contagious droplets in real-time.
Do masks stop 100% of infections? No, and nobody ever said they did. But, if I was Covid contagious, would you rather I sneeze into a mask beside you or sneeze on your face?
