Full approval of the Pfizer vaccine. A game changer?
Covid-19 Discussion (moderated)

While i can understand why some dont want the vaccine. I would also like to think, and HOPE that those same people are doing their own research and not just listening to what their favorite news channel tells them to do.

Lets hope it helps
Not much info yet, but some tidbits here:

Trust scientific consensus that you have confirmed yourself, not been told by some talking head on TV.

There's a scale when trying to make a point in a discussion:
Stupid dumb (3 degrees removed from reliability):
"Well, I was drinking beers in the gas station parking lot, and my buddy told me that [insert talk radio host or political opinion show host here] said that all scientists agree that..."
Regular Dumb (2 degrees removed from reliability):
"I read on [insert blogger website with no references or supporting links] an interview where an expert said all scientists that..."
Not quite as dumb (1 degree removed from reliability):
"A dude with a bowtie on TV told me that all scientists agree that..."
Starting to catch a clue (loose confirmation of a single source):
"A dude on TV said that all scientists agree and I did a Google search and the first link said that, too"
Smarter (loose confirmation from multiple sources):
"A dude on TV said something, and I did some research and a bunch of links said the same thing"
Smarter still (solid confirmation from multiple reliable sources):
"A dude on TV said something, and I did some research and 3-4 sources I have previously dug into that were really solid verify that..."
Smartest:
"I had already read up on this topic via articles from several trusted sources, and when the dude on TV said that [insert information here] was happening, I was pretty skeptical...so I doublechecked to make sure nothing has changed, and yeah, that dude was full of crap."

For those who have had to deal with people arguing with them that the vaccines cause heart problems (myocarditis)...just point out that Covid-19 causes 2-3 times more cases of the same heart problem...

Thats been pretty well known. I know that I’ve made that argument before (as well as that myocarditis is less risky than death, but what do I know). I want to draw attention to this, though, because I think it highlights the thought process of the anti-vaxxer: they do not understand statistics (either from confirmation bias, selective sourcing, or inundation Brave New World style). They focus on Myocarditis saying that the vaccines cannot be trusted while ignoring Covid is riskier and other vaccinations are available. They focus on the 1% death rate (which is bull $&!@ because America has had 38.4 million cases and 633k deaths, so it’s at least 1.6%, with anti-viral treatments and full, non-triaged, medical attention) to the exclusion of long Covid or permanent organ damage (which appears in about 10-20% of survivors) or even the transmissibility (as I’ve noted, 1% of 150k is much larger than 50% of 8). They focus on masks and vaccines not being 100% effective to the exclusion of scientific data that masks do reduce transmission and vaccines do reduce infection and severity.
And it’s really sad, because the same people who are being misinformed with bad statistics are not getting the vaccine or exercising precaution, and they make up an overwhelming majority of Covid ICUs/ventilators/deaths. I feel for them, but we cannot really discuss it when we don’t agree on the basic underlying facts.

"Listen to doctors and nurses."
Not entirely true.
Of course, there are exceptions.
But if it makes you feel better just listen to politicians and celebrities then. Or better yet, just get medical advice from Chess.com's moderated Covid thread.
(Silly me, what was I thinking!?)
Where have i claimed to listen to no one but politicians, celebrities, or this thread?
I simply stated that doctors and nurses can and will be wrong. Just to give an example.
My doctor told me that i should be on 6 prescriptions. Im not big on just popping pills for every ache and pain. I like to do my own research and learn "why" and what other alternative are there?
4 1/2 years later I have corrected all 6 of the ailments my doctor said i needed prescriptions for. I even healed a knee that i was told required surgery. I'm not saying doctors, hospitals, prescription drugs, surgery are not needed. I'm just saying that their are other ways.
Real food, exercise, stretching, supplements, and a healthy life style will do wonders.
As far as what were you thinking? My only thought is that you didn't read/comprehend what i posted.

People wonder how i stay informed since i dont watch cnn or fox. I tell them that i do and will watch them. And the truth is somewhere in the middle.
two strikes and several foul balls!
