My brand of logic? What kind of nonsensical answer is that?  Studies from 2023 are supported by and back up the 2008 study. If the significance is lost on you, I can’t help with that. Again, in time, your narrative will continue to crumble, and your thread is the evidence. Thank you.

The public was asked to wear surgical masks because N95 masks, which were clear identified at the time as the proper mask and the only ones rated to handle the size of the virus, were in short supply.  Maybe you should remember this?  The CDC asking people not to buy up N95 masks so medical personnel could get them.  The counterfeit N95s?  The surgical and cotton masks were never supposed to do any more than stop droplets, to protect others, not one's self.  Nothing more.

The research on the aerosolized virus particles was not complete yet.

So your premise that this study was ignored or that the CDC didn't know the surgical masks only had limited benefit is complete BS.  That is what I was talking about.

N95 masks are no better than no mask with regards to the Covid virus. They do not seal around the edges. The micron rating is .3 microns at 95% removal efficiency. What percentage of .1 micron particles is it going to remove? Factor in the lack of seal. It’s laughable to everyone who understands the science vs the political science. We’ve known the particle size of Covid for 3 years. Current studies are further supporting these facts.

Let's not pretend you know the science or were arguing these points in 2020.  You are parroting some blog you read.  Now, were you planning to admit you are ExploringWA/TumpaiTubo?

Donald trump was the president and weed is in a more dangerous drug class than cocaine opiates  etc ya let’s trust all the covid science

What *is* pseudo-scientific is the way posters lift talking points from Fox and try to run with them.

Ghost of Ninja/ExploringWA/TumpaiTubo, blocked for spamming and trying to circumvent the posting guidelines (for the 3rd time).  Go play frisbee with your wonder dog and try to find some joy in your bleak existence.

FavelaSwagKing, your next post will have some kind of worthwhile content if you want to post here.  This is not a thread for whining and kibitzing.  I realize this is your first post and you want to join in the fun, but this isn't a thread for petty, snarky Covid naysayers.  It's about reality.

Hopefully this ends the angsty little uprising...it's sad that I need to still do this on occasion.

Whole thing is a money grab and if you remember the president publicly stated the vaccine will prevent the spread and infection which was a lie and the vaccine almost got mandated it was really close. Everyone I knew but me got scared and got it bc they thought they were gonna get fired. I think it’s worthwhile when science is altered to make cash science should be the one thing you can’t mess with IMO. Also idk who tf you are so I don’t really care

some of these posters make me feel like i'm back in od.

Great, then I suggest you take yourself and go wherever people whose coworkers, friends and family are all vaxxed go.  Maybe a retreat where you can ponder why you think you are the only one who is right among all your loved ones, and while you are at it, whether you add value to humanity as a whole.  I heard Aaron Rodgers knows a good place.  Sounds right up your alley.

Ppl should not be worried abt Covid-19 bc it's basically the flux10. It is not even a big thing anymore bc it has died down a bit. Yall need to chill out.

Toire

This has been a very useful Thread for those of us who take this pandemic seriously.

With over 1 million Americans having died from Covid, how else could one reasonably take it?

Recent change to the Worldometers website...

<<Effective February 1, 2023, the Coronavirus Tracker has switched from LIVE to Daily Updates.>>

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

interesting link, toire. a few observations.

  • the graphs have an interesting correlation around january/march of last year. the highest rates of infections followed by a lowering in the rate of death. i can only guess the latter would be a product of the vaccines. the former to be addressed later
  • the information from north korea is a joke.
  • by every metric, the u.s. seems to have been the worst at handling covid.

this one is tricky and completely dependent on reporting and recording accurate information. even the u.s. had discrepancies. most seemed based on the state, which is disgusting, really. i remember my state changing how to report cases https://www.insider.com/a-statistical-sleight-of-hand-florida-changed-its-covid-19-reporting-methods-2021-8.

on that correlation, it was two years after covid hit us. my belief is that the rates of infection were highest last year due to the massive amount of disiformation peddled by too many, including such crazy words as "it will just go away", or, "the (summer) heat will kill it". i had firsthand experience with this ignorance combined with arrogance. i met a guy for a lesson one day and explained i wouldn't get too close due to covid. he said covid should be afraid of him because he was an ex-marine, and that if covid dared to try to infect him, the virus would get scared.

i did not give that lesson.

sure, that is one anecdotal story, but this type of thinking seemed quite prevalent as the infections grew. as it did, and some anti-vaxxers in the media died from covid, i think  perception of the vaccines changed and many more were willing to get magnetized.

That's 3-and-out (x2)...

Bye and bye.

For anyone else...I generally allow a maximum of 3 nonsense/spammy posts in a row before blocking someone.

Btickler you’re like Eric cartman with your authorita. You started a freaking thread lol get over yourself

FavelaSwagKing

You started a thread but you act like you own the site and ur trying to fight everyone Jesus

FavelaSwagKing

USA had the worst covid response in every metric because we’re corrupt af and it’s all about money and it doesn’t matter who dies it’s all about money. Lots of lies and fake science and bs to cover stuff up but the death toll doesn’t lie. And the richest 1000 people made like $2,000,000,000,000 during the pandemic while people were dropping like flies. Everything is backwards and fuc***d up in this country in reality. It’s hard to see the reality because there are so many lies but you can look at the death toll
