Typical desperate argument. Texas and Florida have the 2nd and 3rd highest populations, that's why. Lockdown negative effects were harmful to the economy, children's mental health, education, most covid fanatics even agree with this. And no, I got severely sick from covid within a year of getting the first 2, before any boosters were available. And that just shows how useless the vaccines are. You don't get 3 polio vaccines and still get a severe case of Polio. Big effin deal I didn't die after getting vaccinated, vaccines are supposed to prevent illness in the first place. DeSantis did the right things in response to the paranoid propaganda about covid, and the US needs to make sure the crazies who disagree can never do anything like 2020 ever again. Some "evidence" if this is a recession as bad as 2008, superinflation, some of the worst reading and math test scores since 2020, and 50%+ increase in youth suicide and mental health problems. And again, you wouldnt call a polio vaccine effective if after getting 2-3 doses you ended up hospitalized with polio but happened to not die. Grow up, "2 weeks" started 3-4 years ago.

wow, you are really dense. you're talking about population size with texas and florida while ignoring that they had few mask mandates and lockdowns compared to other states. then, you immediately go to economic impact while knowing nothing about economics. this is similar to 2008?

as far as the covid vaccines, read up on them prior to spouting off. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2021/11/17/fact-check-covid-19-vaccines-protect-against-infection-transmission/6403678001/

you need to read a lot more. in another topic i saw you wrote you think 97% of what is learned in school is useless. you are the poster boy for that 3rd percentile.

finally, i live in florida, and destupid did almost all the wrong things. it was easy for him to mandate schools stay open because his kids were homeschooled. he appointed a surgeon general that said people don't need vaccines. he said kids exposed to covid had to go to school-no quarantine. he threatened to fire teachers who were pro-mask. this stuff is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg about how he is completely dimwitted and an authoritarian.

as i wrote, read more.

No, he just made sure beaurocrats couldn't force kids to not be able to breathe fresh air. I have no respiratory issues and even the lightest masks gave me trouble breathing within 1-2 hours. Nice job not refuting the rest of my points. 97% of school is indoctrination into nonsense like you are spouting now. Kids have a right to a normal education experience in person and not more staring at screens for 10 hours a day. Mental Illness and suicide rates have surged since 2020, with many youth mental health cases now overloading ERs in major cities. The pandemic joblessness was worse than 2008. There was a case of 9 year old crying on a live zoom class cause both her parents were laid off and could only afford 1 meal a day. Starving kids and ruining their one chance at a good education and social development to save grandma is beyond selfish. Everyone had their own responsibility to be careful. Imposing insanity like kids not being able to see their friends or siblings for months and ridiculous quanrantines/turning college dorms into a prison was dead wrong. I'm very socialist but may vote for DeSantis if he runs. Airlines also were out of control with the mask nonsense. Oh and aren't you one of the trans supporters in OD? "Science" lol Insanity like this is why cops were arresting people in the UK for sitting in the park, but don't do a thing when climate t e r r o r i s t s block ambulances these days. What other horrors did DeSantis do? Oh that's right, banning all the LABCXYZ++ themed books targeting 4 year olds? I can't stand most republican values but Florida is one of my top ten states to move to from NY.

It would be hard to pack any more anecdotal hearsay into one post. Have you got backup for any of this stuff?

The alphabet-intolerant stuff is done, or you won't be posting here. That extends to any/all other groups you would like to disparage, btw. This is not the thread for it.

Political asides/allusions need to remain Covid-related and definitely not turn into the focus of any posts, as well. That applies to everyone, of course.

EndgameEnthusiast2357

Then go ahead and block me, cause pushing that stuff on kids is anti-science, deranged, child abuse. Can't claim you are pro-science when you dismiss decades of modern genetics.

Nobody that I know of is pushing anything on kids, and most certainly not here on the forums. If you have specific cases of abuse you are aware of, I suggest you report them to your local authorities, but again, this not the thread.

you are a slow study. he made sure kids would have to deal with other kids exposed to covid.

97% of school is indoctrination into nonsense like you are spouting now. this is telling, in more than one way. Kids have a right to a normal education experience in person and not more staring at screens for 10 hours a day. using your rationale, kids should keep attending school during a natural disaster, their health not being the #1 issue. Oh and aren't you one of the trans supporters in OD? even if i were still there, how is that relevant? you seem to keep ranting from one subject to another without any sources for your garbage. "Science" lol Insanity like this is why cops were arresting people in the UK for sitting in the park, but don't do a thing when climate t e r r o r i s t s block ambulances these days. i included a link about covid. just one to see your response. i doubt you read it because you don't appear to even have read me about just a few of the things destupid did.

on the economy, since you are the one comparing it to the great recession, i am requiring you to show how the downturn during covid was as bad as then.

on education, in one breath you have stated 97% of it is nonsense. i can't be bothered to copy/paste what you wrote in the other topic, but you basically wrote it is useless. now you want all kids to go to school. all the time.

few believe a hypocrite.

EndgameEnthusiast2357

Sick kids should not go to school, and that should be the case with all colds, flu, stomach viruses..etc not to spread them. The hypocrisy is that with those many abusive parents say "tough it out this is the real world it's just a cold", yet with covid everyone freaks out, despite colds/flus often causing worse suffering. School is mostly useless, but if you are going to waste 5 hours of a kids life a day, at least let them have the classroom experience (which even many kids said they preferred over zoom lunacy). This was not the slightest bit of concern for kids health, it was all about not giving it to grandma and grandpa/not overwhelming the hospitals. If anyone cared about kids health, they would make school start at a later time allowing them to sleep later, and have their mental health issues addressed (only 1 in 5 youth get needed mental health care by their parents). Society shouldn't be shut down for healthy people. I gave the reason the economy was horrible then, record unemployment, catastrophic damage to struggling small businesses, millions of which had to shut down (including my favorite food place next to my old college, thanks). Denying this is totally ignorant. Also, you are forgetting even those states did initially shut down everything, they just didn't drag it out endlessly like NY and California, and said "enough is enough" and reopened earlier. Comparing it to going to school in a hurricane is absurd. Talk about "changing topics" lol. Personally, I think keeping everything online was just because the teachers were too lazy to show up in person, and this was there excuse. But again, by the time these states decided to reopen, the fanatic states were on day 1,000 of "15 days to flatten the curve".

What is it our endgame person doesn't get about someone having a disease and yet being asymptomatic and spreading it everywhere? By day two or three of spreading a virus, the kid suddenly seems sick and the parents keep him/her home. Meanwhile, bunches of other kids are spreading the very same germs for two or three days...etc until tons of children, parents, teachers, known associates and total strangers are starting to spread and develop symptoms. So just saying to keep your kid home is not really going to do the job.

RonaldJosephCote

He's a covid tyrant. Trump supporters are covid tyrants. Don't wear the masks,....don't get the shot,.....because your infringing on my rights. meh https://www.yahoo.com/news/kemp-desantis-campaigns-reject-trump-115507808.html

I get that perfectly. What I don't get is why people don't understand that even if there's a virus going around you can only take precautions within reason. You can't make little kids wear an uncomfortable mask on their face for 6-7 hours straight 5 days a week. There's no way to know if someone is asymptomatic unless you test every single day which is also ridiculous. You people have no sense of boundaries. I literally spray the gas pumps with lysol so you're saying this to the wrong person. I'm as much of a Democrat as you can get, but they went too far with this. Yeah, you are infringing on people's rights by forcing them to inject stuff in their body or wear something that makes it harder to breathe normally. You people are just entitled, germophobes. What about a kid/baby's right to see normal faces, have a normal school experience, not to damage their vision by looking at screens 10 hours a day. Focus on finding a cure instead, same for the common cold and flu, not just live irrationally and obsessively for years.

hysterical old woman

EndgameEnthusiast2357

Uh the hysterical old women are the ones who think they have a right to demand 2 year olds wear masks on a plane cause they are terrified about not living another 3 whole years. And the ones who wear masks while driving solo in their cars. Explain that.

RonaldJosephCote

"You people have no sense of boundaries"....... boundaries? surprise.....we're just trying to keep you alive.

I got a laugh out of people driving alone in their cars too.

Drama queen. Most reasonable people who didn't fall for the media fear mongering are still alive and well, and I have had covid, which your shots and masks did nothing to reduce. Living life obsessing about dying is no way to live. Quality of life is more important.

It's not either/or. People can take measures without being afraid...and most smart people do.

EndgameEnthusiast2357

Reasonable measures aren't shutting down all of society, ruining children's education and social life, firing millions of people, forcing masks on 1-2 year olds on an airplane to the point that the kid is vomiting from the stress of trying to fight it, putting people in prison for going to a beach (like the Cayman Islands did), firing tens of thousands of needed workers such as pilots and doctors for not getting a rushed vaccine, arresting people for sitting in a park (like the UK did in spring 2020). All of that is fascist medical tyranny that isn't justified no matter what virus is going around. Again, you are talking to someone who sprays the gas pump with lysol before touching it. That's a reasonable precaution that takes 5 seconds and doesn't affect anyone else. Someone's coughing on the street, putting my face in my shirt as I walk by and moving away from them, that's a reasonable precaution that doesn't affect anyone else. Squirting 5-6 squirts of hand sanitizer in my hands at a public place instead of a normal 1-2 times is a reasonable precaution that doesn't hurt anyone else. What the governments did in response to the pandemic was catastrophic to society and the middleclass, and to deny that is just plain, unempathetic, delusional, narcissism. My moms friend even died of Covid, because at the time they were only sending ambulances to people who were very severely ill, so he was denied treatment for a few days until he finally was sick enough and then he died. And after that we had to hear the 7 o clock cheers for the health care workers who did nothing to help him. EMTs have delayed treating heart attack patients due to fear of getting covid. Fa sc ists medical tyranny.

One of my best friends was a frontline medical responder, in Texas. You're completely off base here. These people worked insane hours, helped everyone and then some more, and had to live with the unbelievable frustration of having to treat a truckload of people pouring in the doors constantly, all sick, some who were following guidelines, and some who were making their lives hell by questioning and resisting every single step of the way. A *ton* of nurses left the field or changed jobs after this nightmare. Many were so disillusioned that people could be that self-centered and frankly, stupid.

My friend had to deal with one woman who, upon finally realizing that she was going to die, tried to take it all back and say she was sorry about belittling everything along the way, and completely broke down...what do you say to that? You end up furious and heartbroken for them at the same time, and there's nothing to say and nothing left to do but lament that people can be that willfully ignorant.

Then, to top that off, nurses tried to go home and relax and decompress for the next shift only to have relatives and friends try to tell them that the pandemic is overblown, about how they refuse to wear masks, use sanitizer, cough at people as a joke, etc. I'm kind of surprised not a single healthcare worker "went postal" during this timeframe.

My friend eventually had to transfer to a small general practice, she just could take it all anymore. One less frontline responder...completely burned out only a few years after getting out of nursing school.

There's no such thing as "medical tyranny", by the way. I'll try to succinctly answer your initial list...no, no, no, cherry picked and not a government mandate, cherry picked, necessary, cherry picked. In a pandemic with almost 700 millions cases now, you can find almost any egregious behavior you like somewhere at some time.

Let's cherry pick from the other side...people licking food at grocery stores, coughing on people on purpose, cutting out the filters in their masks, faking vaccine cards, purposefully compromising whole batches of vaccines, buying up all the hand sanitizer in a tristate area and then selling it for 10 times the price, yadda yadda yadda...
