You people always talk about ignoring science like it's a bad thing. Don't you know "science" is funded by the people who control the government? Scientists will only say what the Jews pay them to say. Medicine doesn't actually cure you, Trump is the 2nd coming of white skinned, blond haired Jesus, and God Bless 'Murica!

Sarcasm and parody are both fine, just keep your eye on the target(s).  You kind of went off into left field (right field, actually...) there.  If this were Field of Dreams you'd be in the cornfield happy.png.

So, everybody got real quiet about hydroxychloroquine...

Trump, Fox News, and Dr. Oz have all backed away with their hands in the air now.

I'm not hanging my hat on hydroxychloroquine, but before we put the final nail in the coffin of that drug, I feel like I have to raise the issue of zinc. That link doesn't mention the added use of zinc along with HCQ. In Dr. Zelenko's patients, he also prescribed zinc along with HCQ and erythromycin, and he had very good results. Some are thinking that the HCQ opens a transport path into the cells, but zinc needs to be present to enter the cell. The zinc supposedly inhibits replication of the virus inside the cell. I'm guessing that without zinc present, HCQ might not be very effective.

Also, I believe that if you're going to use HCQ, you probably should be checked for susceptibility to heart arrhythmias (long QT), especially if you're also using erythromycin.

So, I think we need studies using HCQ, erythromycin, *and* zinc, and also prescreening /monitoring for heart arrhythmia side effects.

Just my 2 cents, which might be worth nothing ;-)

I'm all for adding zinc to the clinical trials (well, one control branch of the trials, anyway) if there's a scientific basis for it.  I don't write off concrete physical evidence, I write off people that say "what have you got to lose?" when somebody that doesn't know any better than they do tells them something works.

Yeah. I'll try to avoid being political as best I can...I'm still watching the White House press briefings, but at this point, if Trump is talking, I mute the TV. If Pence is talking, I'll unmute it, but I barely pay any attention to the conversation. If *anyone* else is talking, then I start paying attention. :-)

In the beginning, I would listen to the entire presser, but now it doesn't seem to be such a great idea...

Agreed.  It's pretty tragic that a huge set of people just tune it all out now, while another huge set of people are apologists and attempt to frame the messages in more appropriate ways.  It's like a delusional and dysfunctional family around the holidays.  Everyone just kind of stares blankly ahead and tries not to make eye contact when Uncle Joe gets up to make his annual toast wink.png...

It's affecting the outbreak in significant ways, and we have dozens of would-be leaders all trying to pull in different directions to correct course.  It's chaos, and the stuff going most wrong doesn't really have anything to do with political ideology.

Not good news on the remdesivir front - The first RCT in China apparently was a flop. I don't have access to the draft report from the Financial Times, so I can't read the report.

It seems that trying to subdue the virus itself is not the answer. The intensive care patients experiencing cytokine storm seem to be reacting well to auto immune suppressants. There is such a wide margin of symptoms from person to person, coming up with more than one treatment and trying to fit it to the individuals symptoms or blood type or whatever differences there might be to give a clue to which is which.

Marie,....you posted about The Rockefella Foundation researching a vaccine. Thank you for that....that gave me hope. They've got a LOT of real money. If he gets together with what Bill Gates is doing, they should succeed. Also, I don't think they will sell the vaccine.....they'll just give it to all under developed countries because its the right thing to do.

W. T. F.

https://news.yahoo.com/trump-floats-treating-coronavirus-patients-with-light-and-disinfectants-000002468.html

“Supposing we hit the body with a tremendous — whether it’s ultraviolet or just very powerful light. And I think you said that hasn’t been checked, but we’re going to test it,” Trump said. “And then I said, supposing you brought the light inside the body, either through the skin or some other way.”
As Bryan looked on uncomfortably, the president went on to speculate about the possibility of using disinfectants as a treatment.
“And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute, one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets in the lungs and does a tremendous number on the lungs,” Trump continued.
“It would be interesting to check that. That you’re gonna have to use medical doctors with, but it sounds interesting to me, so we’ll see.”
Asked directly whether Trump’s suggestion that injecting bleach or using light to treat COVID-19 made sense, Bryan said his laboratory was not pursuing those ideas.

How can anybody that went through even elementary school science think that you can inject bleach or disinfectant into a human being's lungs to cure them of something?

I felt like this was taking things out of context to make Trump look bad.

So I watched the video.

Ok, so he's literally a child. He has the intellect of a small child.

More than anything I'm amazed the country has done so well. Apparently the president isn't very influential or important after all.

Maybe he recently watched this movie:

OK, I think we can all safely assume this is going to end up being a train wreck. It would be funny except for the fact that we're all on the train...

Don't say that please...there was that couple that died injesting fish tank cleaner they thought was hydroxychloroquine.  And it's tragic to say this in modern day America, but, yeah, somebody might inject bleach into their lungs because it sounds plausible to them.
