Thanks, I read your 6 words sentence many times, and I conclude you still used the word freak, and I believe not in the way the person you took the word from intended.

Anyway, my point is that unity and comprehension could do everyone some good, but as it turns out you gave me a somewhat acrimonious answer in which you mentionned nothing of what I wrote and justified yourself instead. So much for unity, comprehension...

Tell your parents the truth: there is a virus, there is a pandemic, conspiracy theories are wrong. If they are sensible people they´ll understand.

I gave you a direct answer after you misinterpreted my post.  Piggyback your calls for unity on posts that are not disagreeing with using the word "freak" .  I can't help it if you don't get sarcasm.  The point of my post is that calling people freaks for having X or Y outlook/opinion is not constrained by basement proximity ...and if you honestly believe that the basement dweller freak reference was fine until it got compared to a 50 year old dad and came closer to home for you, which was only then not fine for you, then I humbly submit that you are the one that needs a little self-reflection.  Neither reference was fine.  Which was the whole point of my post.

You might as well go off on somebody for this snippet of conversation:

I have kept mine clean and on topic despite the conspiracy crackpots and the political sniping, and it's going to stay that way.  This isn't a thread for kids, or immature adults.  Now that RJC's threads are gone, this is the last Covid thread remaining that is not locked or populated almost entirely by crackpots.

Stick with San Francisco Isuka and RootBeerFloater...more your speed .

Yep , well aware but thanks anyway.  That is the thread I was making reference to when I said "populated almost entirely by crackpots".  The OP of that thread seems reasonable enough, but continuing to give a soapbox to conspiracy theorists, anti-vaxxers, etc. is not a good way to go.  Stupid attracts more stupid.

Moderating a thread is a reasonable way to proceed, in fact this is what happens in organised debates etc, at every turn the discussion is controlled by the Chairperson. Without something like this in place there's always the danger that discussion gets buried under a bunch of people shouting over eachother.

Conflating this with the Gestapo is completely ridiculous.
