What exactly happened in Europe and the USA? Why people didn't take care of themselves after the scary first wave and now are facing a a second wave instead?

I know some people who believe is a global conspiracy of the government to control their lives. that's the average Joe. Then, there are forces working to use the virus to gain more power, and be sure the medium and low classes became even more powerless.

It's like those cartoons, when the barrel of dynamite doesn't explode, and Yosemite Sam goes out to see if the fuse is still lit...

What do you mean when you put the word "facts" in quotes? Why do you mention conspiracies?

Isn't that a dig at conservatives in the US? You know, from their POV COVID itself is a conspiracy, and science itself is a "fact" (scare quotes are necessary).

If you want to have an open discussion, you have to throw "so called" "facts" out the window. Facts come from the gut. From convictions. From authority... not from pencil necked nerds in lab coats.

This is how modern "conversation" works.

I'm assuming sarcasm...but for anyone that doesn't see that...my rules apply to all posters of all viewpoints.  If one's legit point of view is that this rule discriminates against conservatives, then you are essentially saying that only conservatives fall for conspiracy theories, etc. happy.png

Last night in my country, there were riots in a lot of cities, people burning things and robbing stores, they were literally nazis (of the heil Hitler fame), anti vaxxers, conspiracy theorists, and fascists, the fascist party in Spain being supported and advised by Steve Bannon.

Is hard to talk about Covid without mixing it with politics.

3 and out.  Blocked.

Keep the posts outbreak oriented.  That means not tossing out political statements with just a token nod to the outbreak, especially one-liners.

Argentina is vaccinating 6 million people with the Russian vaccine Sputnik V in December. It would be the first American country to immunize its population, I guess.

Also interesting is Slovakia testing 70 % of its population in two days. Those who tested positive and those who refused being tested will be obliged to keep at home in quarantine.

Some positivity(for a change)

In the US hospitalizations from Covid are down 80%

The viruses survivability for people under 40 with no co-morbidity is 99.8%

And regardless of what the media tells you the US is doing far better than many countries like Spain, Italy, France etc

The US has the most deaths...but a HUGE population. It is anti scientific to not account for population size.

When population size is taken into account the US is not performing worse than many other countries.

200+ countries/territories have a lower ratio of cases per capita, so...no.  Your statement is false.

Head over to Worldometer, hit "countries", then click at the top of the "cases/million pop" column to sort if ascending, then click it again to sort it descending.  Scroll down...and down...and down...and down, until you reach the U.S. at #206.

Then reflect on where you are receiving your talking points from.

US passes 100K cases in single day...

Denmark informed that 15 million minks are going to be killed, as 12 people has been infected by minks with a covid mutation, to wich the vaccines currently being developed could be useless.
