Waiting on results from my 3rd Covid test. Whatever I have, this sucks.

I gave blood a week ago. They said it would take two weeks to get my antibody test results. I've never taken a covid test though. Pretty sure my son has covid right now, but he's feeling a lot better today.

I had to quit giving blood in 1997. They get all funny when a person goes hypoxic, passes out, and quits breathing.

I don't know what hypoxic is, but it sounds unpleasant. I figured with all the hospital problems it wouldn't hurt to donate some blood. I've got some I'm not using. I haven't done it in a long time so I didn't know what to expect. The actual time to fill that bag only took four and a half minutes. Plus I get to find out what blood type I am. I've always wondered that.

I’m glad you are altruistic!  Look up the word, “Hypoxia.”

Let me try and make this easier:  I had to have an MRI a while back, so I had to have a Covid test 2 days prior to entering the lab.

I had to have an x-Ray, same story.

Last week I got sick. Very sick. Feel like death. I went in Friday afternoon and had a 3rd Covid test. This was the first because of being sick. The other two were for being broken.

How do you feel now?  btw I looked up hypoxia. It's when parts of the body, or all of it, don't get enough oxygen. Like when someone does something very strenuous. I take it that's not the cause of yours though.

It's insane to watch people posting about themselves or others they love having symptoms that fit the Covid profile but they don't get tested, they just make assumptions, yes or no.  WTF.  What kind of parent would ever act that way?  It's like one of those nature documentaries where a mother animal lacks some basic instinct and walks her baby into a fast-moving chest high river crossing with her and the baby gets swept away and drowned.  Awareness just not quite there...

Here's some awareness...

Merry Xmas, I guess.  Humanity is doomed.

I’m feeling better today. The doctor said there is a flu big going around, and another cold virus, and since I have not had a fever, he guessed it would be one of those. In any case I had the test taken Friday, and I still do not have the results.

Ifpatriot: People keep asking me if I’ve gotten my Covid test back because they want to come visit. There response when I tell them I am sick with probable flu or a different cold virus: “As long as it’s not Covid, I don’t care.”

You are correct in that people will freely catch and spread the flu.

Hope the Christmas and New Year parties will be low key, keeping in mind the dangers of mass gathering at present

I'm sure it will be more low key than usual, but mass gatherings aren't allowed pretty much anywhere. There are no concerts or events with thousands of people in one place. I do expect the Christmas covid spike to be greater than the Thanksgiving one though. You can't cower in fear under a rock forever.

I guess we have to define what mass gathering means. In our state the governor flip flopped again and now says in a week schools can reopen if they want. I don't think a few hundred people counts as a mass gathering. I guess if a school is 5A or 6A a couple thousand might be considered a mass gathering. With the Christmas spike coming, and then opening schools probably a few weeks or month after that it should be interesting to see what the results are.

I do know a few business have just given up on the states response and are just going to open anyway. A mayor of a town not too far outside of Portland announced that his city may open businesses if they want. I expect others to follow.

I remember a lot of conversation about that 9 months ago. That the virus could mutate. One possibility was, and still is, that it would become more contagious, but less deadly. And then mutate again, and do the same. Until eventually it becomes a coronavirus that is easily transmissible, causes a cough, sore throat, possibly fever or runny nose. Scientists have already come up with a name for such a new and controversial coronavirus. The common cold.
