I didn't know much about skincare before getting into it when I got my first acne. My skincare routine consists of a low pH face cleanser, 20% vitamin C serum, a random toner, moisturizer and SPF 30. Any recommendations? What products do you use? Is it necessary to have an am and pm routine?

This probably isn't what you want to hear, but...

Maybe he does have a genuine point. But from my experience, I have always maintained a healthy lifestyle for as long as I could remember and never really consumed junk food, also exercised regularly. I started to experience acne on one fine day and gradually started getting worse. The skincare products prescribed by my dermatologist actually significantly reduced my acne. Also, there are many people I know, who have used many skincare products and achieved the "flawless" skin. You really do have to take care of your skin and not expect it to rejuvenate itself naturally by some sort of miracle.

If you don't eat much junk food, you're waay ahead of most young people. Congrats!

Your routine seems pretty solid! AM and PM routines aren't mandatory, but a basic one for each can make a noticeable difference.

Your skincare routine sounds like a great start! A low pH face cleanser, vitamin C serum, toner, moisturizer, and SPF are essential steps. To add, consider introducing an evening routine as well, focusing on gentle cleansing, hydrating serums, and perhaps a retinol product for nighttime repair.
Speaking of skincare ingredients, have you heard of Argireline peptide? It's an anti-wrinkle ingredient that can be a valuable addition to your routine. Argireline works to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Remember, everyone's skin is unique, so it's essential to find what works best for you through experimentation.
