I've only been on the forum pages for about six, seven months now but I've gotten to know a lot of the teenagers and the twenty-somethings as well as some of the old folks(my peers!)  Frequently, the youngsters(anyone under 30!) come to me for advice.  So ask away and Dear Pegusu will do her best to help!  And of course, people of ALL ages are welcome,  as this is a family-friendly forum, strand, thread, whatever!!!

You’re not asking me for advice here, but I’ll answer anyway. Bobby Flay is a much more pleasant fellow so I’ll say Bobby Flay.

Find something you’re really interested in and then research how you can do it or participate in it or make it your career. Be yourself. Do NOT follow the pack. Be kind. Belief in a Higher Power is essential. And be determined to be in a good mood, one day at a time.

I don’t know. But what I do know is that you need to do it well or you’ll spend a fortnight in the slammer.

I know this sounds corny but the best way to have friends is to BE a friend.  Find people who share at least some of your interests. Get to know other people naturally - don't force things or be overly eager. That'll make you look desperate, which will NOT make you friends.  Be a good listener, take interest in what others say. Be yourself and have confidence in yourself. Confidence is very attractive to other people.

I will NOT contribute to the delinquency of a minor by advising you about hijacking companies, or distributing subpar vehicles. (Lol)

Join a golf team or golf club. Watch professional players on television and on the net. Read about golf. Practice one move at a time, in isolation until you master that one move. (Btw, I LOATHE golf and am the worst player on the planet!)

I’m am old fogey (early 50’s) and making my way towards retirement age. I’m in a great career (Health and Wellness) and love my job. It pays the bills, anyways.

On the other hand, I love creative writing and have several novels going, which I work on in my spare time (whenever I can find some downtime, from my demanding job).

My true dream job would be a novelist, I realize that I am getting older and “running out of time.”

Have been sort of grappling with the idea of quitting my job and going for it, as a writer.

Do you think that I should quit my job and just write my butt off? Or, do you think I should just take the steady paycheck, wait for retirement and take the money and run?

Just curious, to get some feedback on this - thanks! :-)

I'd like to try to answer this as I've had a lot of experience with this problem on this very site. The nastier the other person is, the kinder you become. When they say something mean to you, say something nice back. Use big words that they won't understand. Most importantly, keep your cool.  If this is happening at school, then tell a teacher, an administrator or a guidance counselor.  Everything I just said has to do with other kids at school. I'm not equipped to handle more serious cases.  Hope things get better quickly.
