Debate scrum

Ideally, the topic would be controversial enough for many people to take different sides. The rules are simple: Someone picks a topic, and everyone splits into two teams, and each team debates their side of the argument. No insults, no cursing, and max 2 posts at once. I'll post more rules if this thread doesn't crash and burn like most of my other ones.

Hmmm...interesting

That's asking alot due to the age ranges you'll be dealing with.

So true. You can have 12 yrs olds arguing with 20 yrs about something stupid, like High School Musical vs Camp Rock or whatever

Mm...cool

Magnetta123

True enough. This is why said topic should be somewhat serious.

Tja_05

It should also be something most people can debate about.

Tja_05

Also, said topic should be clear cut. One team or another; no middle ground.

Why don’t you choose the first topic so we have a model topic ?

ChessSensasian

Like choose a topic that is the range of mature and debatable that you want us to do, if that makes sense

ChessSensasian

I think @JustARandomPatzer should choose the first topic

I have one, but it's not the most relatable. Simply: For SSBU, Byleth was the latest addition to the roster. Was it a good one?

Tja_05

If anyone has a topic, go ahead and post it. (Preferably one at a time, though.)

Who???

Here is the topic:

Your sister finally came back from Timbuktu, she was 14 days in quarantine, and now she's home.  The beach one block away opened up for the first time in 60 days.  People who go to the beach are allowed to exercise and surf.  No chairs, no sunbathing.

Your sister really wants to go the beach, but you're afraid there will be crowds and some people don't respect social distancing.  Also, some of your sister's friends might be there and you would feel very uncomfortable asking them not to hug your sister because the rule is 6 feet apart for people who don't live in the same home.

Should you take your sister to the beach or not?

ChessSensasian

If she can’t drive yet or get a ride, then probably not. Most likely it’ll be up to the parents...

the_chess_zebra

Never said the sisters live with their parents.  Could be young adults with their own apartment.

This is supposed to be a debate, not a general conversation.  There should be 2 teams - one pro (for going to the beach) and one con (against going to the beach).

Before you post, name which team you have joined.
